M's birthday is coming up in a few days. On her birthday she gets to choose what meals she wants to eat. For breakfast she wants cinnamon rolls, for lunch Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and for dinner she wants steak with a baked potato!
Here's my dilemma-I don't eat steak, and I've never cooked a steak in my entire life!! My DH doesn't care for steak either, so we have never had steak. We are more of a fruits and vegetables, chicken and fish family. I went to the grocery store yesterday, and looked at the steak section and I was clueless. I have no idea what kind of steak to purchase, and I don't know how I should prepare it!
If anyone has suggestions, or knows of a great, simple, delicious way to prepare some sort of steak, I would appreciate any suggestions!!! Thank you!!

We haven't had steak in a while. But, my husband grills it on our gas grill, and it always turns out delicious. I usually buy sirloin steak and season with either just salt and pepper or a steakhouse seasoning mix we have. Don't overcook it, though; you don't want it to turn into shoe leather...
Okay, firstly have you been to the Keg? Their steaks are the BEST!!!
My tips would be
Buy fresh
Marinate it (terriyaki is fab)
Cook when it is well marinated and grill it only until it stops bleeding yet is still pink inside (but thoroughtly cooked)
We love steak but my husband does most of the grilling. He marinates in worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic and a little bit of brown sugar. Then we grill with a little hickory smoke.
As for cuts, I don't like something that is too lean, it seems to get tough and I always choose a top cut rather than bottom. But your best bet would be to ask the butcher, tell them what you are cooking and they are always happy to help find the right cut.
If all else fails steak sauce covers alot of mistakes. Good Luck!
